DOG WISDOM
Run, romp and play every day
Enjoy the fresh air and wind in your face
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it
Take naps and stretch before rising
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree
Be loyal
When loves ones come home, always run to greet them
When someone is having a bad day, quietly sit close by and nuzzle him or her gently
If you’re scolded, don’t pout; run back and make friends
Avoid biting if a simple growl will do

Puppy News

Here are some testimonials from some of my puppies’ families:

Gauge

Sorry, Sorry, Sorry....for not sending the pictures sooner...my computers have been giving me all kind of troubles, finally I think we got it straightened out. As you can see, Gauge is growing like a weed. We had graduation at obedience school tonight and he did really good considering he has been a little devil! Charlotte and Diane have been reassuring me that he is still a puppy and to have patience. We are all loving him so much and enjoying all the good (and bad). I think you will enjoy the pictures. I have attached an array of pictures showing his personality. They are pretty much from soon after he was brought home to the last two taken today. Enjoy!!! Please let me know when it would be a good time to visit; I am sure he would love to see you.

Abby

Abby is a terrific girl. Wants to work all the time. She has DRIVE. I have her in both competition puppy and beginner agility at Top Dog. Abby is a lot to handle, but a very quick learner and never seems to tire. I put some photos of her on Facebook just recently (did you see them?), but they elongate her nose – cute, but not accurate. It’s hard to photograph a black dog – if indoors I get glowing eyes and outdoors without the flash you can’t see the details of her face. I need a sunny day. I’ll try for some more photos in the next few days.

Ozzie

Just thought I would send an update on Ozzie.

Well Christmas and New Years has come and gone. With it all the decorations are down ( except those that are frozen into the ground outside and will likely have to stay out there til spring!), the Christmas tree packed away for another year and the presents are given out, all of which Ozzie has tasted, carried around in his mouth or eaten. Whichever struck his fancy at the moment, most of it he has eaten. Surprising how much wrapping paper can pass through!

He has pulled ornaments off the tree and carried them around, unwrapped presents and then I rewrap presents and he unwraps them, or they ended up with holes in the paper. I finally gave up rewrapping them and just put tape over the holes and humbly apologized to the receiver of the less than pretty gift.

He is almost 7 mths old, the teenage years some say....maybe I was a lot younger but I don't recall my 4 daughters giving me as much trouble as this 1 puppy! He is independent, bolder, stronger and very smart! I will have to be on my toes to keep one step ahead of him! He always wants to be first, will push his way through the other dogs to get to the door first, loves to play, socialize, and when tired cuddle. So much going on in his head, just fascinating watching him.

Training is in full swing, I believe I can say he knows or has dabbled in all the exercises in Obed. Novice thru Utility, and for change of pace we did a little freestyle. Heeling is coming along nicely although a little wide sometimes, attention and focus is great! Took him to a Fun Match in IL. and put him in Novice and it was a man running us thru, and we set up for the heeling and he asked if we were ready and Ozzie turned his head to look at him and I gave the 'pop' and he looked right back at me and then NEVER looked at the guy or any of the goings on around him the WHOLE time!!! I did incorporate play into the exercises, he also did the full length recall and never took his eyes off me!! This FM is like going to a show, 3 rings, very busy and very noisy. I was so pleased! Got several comments on him! LOOK OUT Midwest - Here comes Ozzie!

Oh well, I could go on forever, for we all know how we like to talk about our dogs!! At least I do! Anyway I hope everyone had a great Christmas and may the Lord bless you in the New Year! Take Care and I hope the snow doesn't get too deep or the air too cold! Stay warm...

Hey! Hope all is well!

Oz is doing good, as long as I can keep him from eating things he is not supposed to!

He is growing and developing a personality, and I think turning into a beautiful Lab! He has a beautiful head! Front legs are still too close and crooked, but I'll take that with the brains he continually shows me! Has a lot of chocolate in his coat - he looks black, but he is more smoky. And I don't know if I told you this, but he still has those white spots/hairs in the middle of his pads on 3 of his feet, and a few white hairs on the 4th. He had them when I came out there and wondered then if they would stay and they did! Nice identification marks, probably not good in the conformation ring if they looked, but that's not going to happen anyway! But he still is as long as a train and getting bolder and stronger. Not shy, nor timid, wants to be first always, will push his way thru the other dogs to get to the front! Have not seen any aggressive tendencies, and he had lots of times to show them, but is getting more independent. He certainly has worked his way into my heart and has actually topped my love for my other dog, which I did not think was possible, but he did. No matter how far we travel in the journey of Obedience world, he will be my friend and companion. Now I'm rattling and getting mushy!! Sorry! But thank-you again for allowing me to come and choose this puppy to walk with me through another chapter in my life! I still sit back and wonder how that all came about and how in the world did I happen to see that one little ad in the F&F chat room, and then have everything fall in place. I can only thank the Lord for providing the means and way for this to take place.

Anyway, you take care and give Stormee, Tawny, and Uncle Gus ( ? ), a big hug and belly rub for me!

Happy New Year!
